2019 Yamaha Xsr900 Review – At first, I was amazed at the prospect of riding two new juicy Yamaha around a 200 meter training track, part of the Yamaha Riding Academy in Thailand. It is a particularly compact facility, built primarily as part of an elaborate (and really good) riders training program for Yamaha customers. I hope this is also replicated for India. Xsr900 Yamaha I had bikes to ride and, oddly enough, nowhere to ride them!
2019 Yamaha according to the experience, the Yamahas are always fun to ride, so the Indian contingent of motorcyclists soon turned the safety arena into a mini racecourse. However, you should bear in mind that the following driving impressions are largely limited to a second gear environment (although I did try to measure your comfort at low speeds at high gear). Having said that, we had enough time in the limiting installation to get a good first impression, at least, and I started with the coolest of the lot: the 2019 XSR900.
The XSR Yamaha borders on the neo-retro design philosophy and is a motorcycle with a decidedly modern look. The name has its roots in the 1968 XS 650, which later became the XS 400 and also an Eleven XS. The XSR 900, however, is more ‘neo’ than ‘retro’ if you know what I mean. Share your chassis and engine with the other 900 in the Yamaha Review lineup, ie the MT-09 and the Tracer 900.
2019 Yamaha Xsr900 Review – Performance
This tall motorcycle puts you in a slightly aggressive driving position, one that is dominant but is not compromised in any way. The old-school fuel tank (on a Yamaha road) seems to be the best, and the single-unit seat is comfortable and generous. You get a conventional handlebar and a single-capsule digital speedometer that includes all the information in an easily readable format. Initially, I thought the XSR Review felt a bit heavy and this feeling remained (but became less prominent) throughout the trip.
Like the other 900, the XSR 2019 Yamaha also has three driving modes, with A being the most powerful, followed by B and Standard. Traction control can be switched off if desired, although ABS can not, which is correct for a motorcycle of this format. This is a fast motorcycle, if not a fast one, and it is clearly a motorcycle for someone with roots in a previous generation of driving.
2019 Yamaha Xsr900 Review – Engine
2019 Xsr900 For what I tried to measure, you can drive this motorcycle at 50 km / h in sixth gear if you want, and the acceleration from that point is gradual but possible. Like all the other Yamaha that you will read here, the XSR is also easy to handle, although discovering it definitely has taken root on my return to the lovely Yamaha riding facilities on the outskirts of Bangkok.
With its wheelbase of 1440 mm (again, common to the other two 900), a 25-degree tilt angle and 4.1 inches of travel, the Review XSR is an adorably stable motorcycle that makes you want to have fun with it. The inverted fork and the monoshock are shared with the MT-09 and the Tracer but, in the XSR, they seemed to have a softer configuration: this may be due to the preload setting.
This is a motorcycle that will allow you to lower your knee, even, but your local territory will undoubtedly be the highest of the hills, eating long corners and sweeps as you move fast. Its seat height of 830 mm should not be a nuisance for the taller ones of 5’10 “and should not weigh 195 kg when using a 14 liter fuel tank, the XSR review should also be a motorcycle capable of travel long distances.
2019 Yamaha In general, the XSR is a very nice motorcycle (it is more expensive, even by a negligible margin, than the MT-09) that can not be rejected because of its attractiveness. As of now, Yamaha will not comment on its arrival in India (if it will arrive), but this is a satisfactory motorcycle and a format that will appeal to a wider audience than the narrower, more focused, enthusiastic Speedway.
