Throttle delivery is predictable and smooth, without sudden power peaks. Pop the clutch in second gear and, oh boy, it’s party time again. Bureaucrats are the reason why new engines no longer have slim LED turn signals. If you buy an XSR700, the turn signals and rear fender are the first bits you kill with a Sawzall. The XSR700 is a fantastic middleweight bike with a spicy engine, future-retro aesthetics and reliability of the Yamaha brand. It is a motorcycle that makes you smile all the time while you leave a traffic light.
Yamaha Rumors It is kind enough for the novice rider who wants to graduate on his or her next bike, and seasoned riders will love it hilariously. It shuttles as if it were built for the nine-to-five, but it shows off an alter ego that looks great when parked in your local coffee shop.
Xsr700 Rumors We are currently driving Yamaha’s XSR700, so the news about the unveiling of the finished bike caught my eye. Early display of the bicycle had a different appearance, with a tail piece of carbon fiber and tank cover. That tail went away, to be replaced by the more utilitarian arrangement of rack / subframe, and then the tank cover was replaced by what looks like the OEM parts that are painted in a very elegant black and silver, reminiscent of BMW’s R Nine T.
The Yamaha Xsr700 shortened seat on the still rather long subframe and the removable rack ensure that the Rural Racer does not look like any other ass-up job, which became boring 10 years ago. The Rotopax fuel package feels a bit artificial, given the hypothetical high fifty mileage of the XSR and the 3.7 liter tank, but I am the last one to lower fuel capacity. And I have to admit that it is pretty cool. Maybe it’s just the wheels and the color scheme, but in my eyes there is even a small hint of the Zaeta flat tracker.
